Tour of Hainan: Marczyński high in the general classification.

The winner of stage 8 of Tour of Hainan is the representative of the Russian team, Alexei Markov. In the high, 5th place the race was completed by the CCC Polsat Polkowice cyclist, Bartłomiej Matysiak.

The last but one stage of the race around the island of Hainan from Danzhou to Dongfang, 195 km long led through a very mountainous area, and its course was really exciting. Right after the start numerous attacks started, and one of them ended with a break-away of five cyclists, among whom there were Tomasz Marczyński and Sylwester Janiszewski. The escapees worked in harmony for the whole stage, gaining advantage over the peloton. When there were fewer and fewer kilometres left before the finishing line, and there was some hope that the break-away would reach the finishing line, the team of Skil-Shimano started to work hard in the peloton. 2 kilometres before the finishing line the peloton absorbed the break-away, and sprint cyclists got down to the fight for the stage win. Once again a cyclist of the Skil team, Kenny van Hummel, turned out to be the quickest at the finishing line – the winner of the previous three stages. He was disqualified, though, for foul riding during the stage, and Alexei Markov became the winner. He defeated the American Charles Bradley Huff (Jelly Belly p/b Kenda) and his compatriot, Ivan Kovalev (the Representation of Russia).

For the third time a good position was won by Bartek Matysiak, who this time took the 5th place.
Tomasz Marczyński may be a cyclist most satisfied with the stage. Thanks to the bonuses gained during the break-away he advanced by several places in the general classification, and now is holding the 5th place, 21 seconds ahead of the leader of the race Valentin Igliński. (Kaz) from Astana. The second place in the general classification is still held by Johnnie Walker (Aus) from the team of Footon-Servetto and the stage winner Alexei Markov advanced to the third place.
Tomasz Marczyński is 2 seconds behind Walker taking the 2nd place, and only 1 seconds behind Markov.

Tomorrow – the last and the longest stage of the Tour of Hainan race. The cyclists will have the route of 226 km to ride and it is perhaps there, that the race will be ultimately decided.
