Leszek Pluciński took 9th place on Stage 2 of Tour of Małopolska and was the top finisher of CCC Sprandi Polkowice.
Seconds stage from Niepołomice to Szczyrzyc, featured an undulating terrain and an uphill sprint finish. There was no flat sections and there was 149 kilometers to cover.
Straight after the gun a five-man group pulled away, with Wojciech Migdał (Cycling Academy), Piotr Skarzynski (Whistle), Sławomir Janiszewski (Wibatech), Martin Grøn (Riwal) and Grzegorz Haba (Region Centralny). Due to puncture, the latter was eliminated from the breakaway and the day’s main escape consisted of four riders. They managed to establish over 7-minute gap.
Right before the halfway point, on the climb to Kostrze, the leading group broke apart. Migdał and Grøn took off and later, the Dane left Cycling Academy rider behind. He went solo and with 27 kilometers to go his advantage was still at 3 minutes.
It was not enough to arrive at the finish ahead of the pack though. The peloton shattered on the numerous hills, caught Grøn few kilometers from the line, and the winner came from a 26-man bunch. Leszek Pluciński was present in the that group.
Marko Kump (Adria Mobil) took his second consecutive victory in the race outsprinting Vitaliy Buts (Kolss-BDC) and Ivan Saviskiy (Russian National Team). Leszek Pluciński finished in 9th and sits 12th overall, 24 seconds back.
