Stage 3 of Tour of Qatar was an individual time trial. It was a hard day for CCC Sprandi Polkowice riders, as they finished far back.
There were 11, completely flat kilometers on the menu. Due to strong head wind in the first part of the course, it was not an easy TT though and the conditions demanded from the contenders enormous amount of power in the legs.
First CCC Sprandi Polkowice rider to start was Davide Rebellin. He posted a time of 15:21. He was followed by Simone Ponzi, Grzegorz Stępniak, Adrian Honkisz, Jarosław Marycz, Tomasz Kiendyś and Adrian Kurek.
Among them Marycz set the best time – 14:58. He took 58th place, 1:32 behind the winner Edvald Boasson Hagen (Dimension Data). The Norwegian smashed the competition and bested Jos van Emden’s (LottoNL-Jumbo) result by 25 seconds. Manuel Quinziato (BMC) clocked third best time and was 29 seconds down.
Thanks to impressive TT performance, Boasson Hagen took over the overall lead. Adrian Kurek sits in 31st, 3:19 back.
