Andre Greipel (Lotto-Belisol) has won the fourth stage of the Tour of Turkey from the finish in Marmaris. In the escape of day rode two cyclists from CCC Polsat Polkowice Adrian Kurek and Nikolay Mihaylov.
After yesterday’s “royal” stage, with the finish at the top of Elmali, another fourth episode of the Tour of Turkey started in the small coastal town of Göcek and led to the seaside resort of Marmaris. Stage length was 147 km. Looking at the route profile might be expected that the hills on the route are not that difficult to drive. In fact, it turned out that it was a very difficult stage and some have slope gradients of up to 10%.
In the early stage the riders have to travel more than 40 km long loop of Göcek to Ciftlik and back, to continue to head for Marmaris. Already in the loop, which ran a very broad way, were very demanding climbs and just for them there was no group of 12 riders and among them were: Adrian Kurek and Nikolay Mihaylov (CCC Polsat Polkowice).
As I announced yesterday, at the present stage of looking for the right opportunity – Adrian Kurek said. When we left the city, was the first pretty hefty climb on it and just decided to attack. Follow me went Niki and even six riders. Then jump up to four and even made a sizable sum, a group of a dozen or so. We all had big losses in the overall standings, and there was a chance that the peloton “empty” this departure. In another of the driveway one of the riders fell off and he jumped Adam Hansen of Lotto-Belisol team, who, as it turned out, was a loss leader for about two minutes. His presence in our escape was not on hand, as expected, the peloton did not let us leave for longer.
And that’s exactly what happened. Runaway twelve riders reached the maximum advantage two minutes. 30 sec. and the peloton, led by team leader rode Team Europcar, carefully controlled departure.
