Elia Viviani from Liquigasu won the seventh stage of the Tour of Turkey. On the last kilometre there was a huge smash-up, which eliminated sprint cyclists from the game.
Adriano Malori (Lampre-Farnese Vini), Gustavo Rodriguez Iglesias (Xacobeo Galicia), Aristide Ratti (Carmiooro NGC), Giairo Ermeti (De Rosa – Stac Plastic) and Cheng Ji (Skil – Shimano) were escaping for the most part of the stage, however, the peleton kept them quite close.
Finally everything was to end up with the finish of the peleton. Less than 3 kilometres before the finish line the team of HTC-Columbia with André Greipel took the lead. At the last turning, a kilometre before the finish line, the racers of HTC-Columbia rode into it too quickly, which led to a crash.
The cyclists who were a bit behind found themselves at the front, which Elia Viviani took advantage of, winning over Giovanni Visconti from ISD – Neri and Andrea Grendene from Lampre-Farnese Vini. In the fifth place was Maciej Bodnar from Liquigasu and Dariusz Batek was 13th.
