Adam Yates of Orica GreenEdge team won the sixth stage of the Tour of Turkey with the finish in Selcuk and put on the leader’s jersey. Davide Rebellin finished in 3rd place.
6th stage Tour of Turkey is the second of the steps, that the finish line ended on the uphill. Cycling peloton started from Bodrum and after defeating 183 km route finished on the Hill Nightingales in Selcuk, above the ruins of ancient Ephesus.
Competition on the 6th stage was not different from the previous days. Like every day, after numerous previous attacks, the peloton finally “let go” 5 cyclists. The escape took to Matthias Krizek (Cannondale), Andre Greipel (Lotto-Belisol), Javier Aramendia (Caja Rural), Adrian Kurek (CCC Polsat) and Wesley Kreder (Wanty). Their biggest, earned advantage was more than five minutes. As they approached the final climb, the advantage of escapees gradually decreased.
The fate of the victory in the race on the 6th stage decided last 5 kilometer uphill. Before the start at the front of the peloton appeared almost all riders fighting for deposit in the general classification with the leader Reine Taaramae (Cofidis). There were also ‘orage’ cyclists: Davide Rebellin and Tomasz Marczyński. Along with them also rode well listed on this day, Pawel Charucki.
