Elia Viviani (Cannondale) won 7th stage Tour of Turkey with the finish line in Izmir. In the sprinter duel he beat Andrea Guardini (Astana) and Mark Cavendish (Omega Pharma-Quick Step).
The penultimate stage of Tour of Turkey led from Kusadasi to Izmir. The riders had to overcome route length of 145 km that led to the slightly hilly terrain. Last kilometers before the finish line led through the streets of Izmir.
In one of the first action three cyclists were able to drive off from the peloton. In the escape were found Peter Gawronski (CCC Polsat Polkowice), Wesley Sulzberger (Drapac) and Wesley Kreder (shrouds). Escapees began compatible cooperation and gained an advantage of 3 minutes.
Action of three riders were lasting until the peloton rode through the streets of Izmir and the finish was approx 10 km. Speeding peloton in which cyclists of Omega Pharma- Quick Step rode very actively.
Despite the hard work of team Omega Pharma, the stage’s victory won for the second time the team’s Cannondale cyclist Elia Viviani. The second cyclist were Andrea Guardini (Astana) and Marc Cavendish (Omega Pharma) was third.
The best of CCC Polsat Polkowice turned out to be Tomasz Kiendyś who finished on 16th place.
The leader is cyclist Orica Green Edge – Adam Yates, Davide Rebellin (CCC Polsat Polkowice) is fifth, while Tomasz Marczyński (CCC Polsat Polkowice) occupies 13th place.
