Marcel Kittel (Argos-Shimano) was the winner of the seventh stage of the Tour of Turkey with the finish line in Izmir. The leader has remained Mustafa Sayar (Torku Seker Spor ).
Seventh, the penultimate stage of the Tour of Turkey led from Kusadasi to Izmir. The riders had to overcome quite a short distance counting only 124.5 km. Profile of the route of this stage in a special preference for cyclists specializing in sprint duel. The team CCC Polsat Polkowice hoped for another good performance Grzegorz Stepniak.
As I said before the start of the race, flew to Turkey in the composition of the team as a sprinter to fight on flat stages – said Grzegorz Stepniak. With the race showed that the first two stages and the last two stages are typical of sprinters. At the first stage, “went” fairly well, the second ended with an accident so that the last two would have a chance to fight. Unfortunately, these plans are thwarted my illness (colds), which caught me during the race. At the sixth stage, which ended in a driveway in Selcuk, I felt terrible, but fortunately, by force of will was able to complete the stage. Back at the hotel I applied a healthy dose of drugs, slept peacefully all night, and while that’s better. I am still not at full strength, but as I announced I will try to fight, and at the present level – finished Grzegorz Stepniak.
Start of stage full of hope a lot of attacks. Many riders tried to pull away from the pack, but the team leader slot torque Sekerspor, closely guarded that there has been no one who would threaten the leader. Only after passing the 40 km route, the next attack ended with the departure of six-strong group of riders. The escape took up once again the player CCC Polsat Polkowice, Nikolay Mihaylov and with it also departed Michael Hepburn (Orica GreenEdge), Martijn Verschoor (Team Novo Nordisk), Christopher Juul Jensen (Team Saxo-Tinkoff), Benoit Jarrier ( Seche Bretagne) and Mauro Finetto (Vini Fantini). A group of Mihaylov was going fairly consistently and has built up a maximum lead of about three minutes. The greater advantage peloton did not allow that the closer the finish line “turned up” ever increasing rate.
