Tour of Turkey: Paluta 16th in Marmaris

Michał Paluta was the CCC Sprandi Polkowice top finisher on stage 3 of Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey, which ended with a reduced bunch gallop.

Info: October 11th, Fethiye – Marmaris, 137,2 km

Course: undulating

Stage 3 featured a 7-man escape, which established nearly 3-minute lead. CCC Sprandi Polkowice were tucked in the bunch, as they anticipated that the chances of attackers to make it to the line were less than slim.

The leading group split on the penultimate hill and the lest men standing got reeled back in the final scent, with 12km to go. High and lively pace uphill, near the summit caused the main pack to shatter and some of the sprinters were distanced. Among them was Szymon Sajnok and therefore couldn’t contest the sprint.

The winner came from a reduced bunch and GC leader, Sam Bennett took the back-to-back victory. He outsprinted Maximiliano Richeze and John Degenkolb. Michał Paluta was the top finisher of the “orange squad” coming in in 16th place.
