Tour of Turkey – the third victory of Marcel Kittel

Marcel Kittel of Argos-Shimano team won the final stage of the Tour of Turkey with the finish line in Istanbul. The winner of the general classification was Mustafa Sayar (Torku Seker Spor ).

Last, 8.etap, 49 editing Presidential Tour of Turkey, with a length of 121 km ran through the streets of Istanbul. In very hot weather and temperatures reaching nearly 30 degrees Celsius, cycling peloton started before the Blue Mosque, and thus began the last touch of this year’s race. The cyclists rode through the Bosphorus Bridge connecting Europe and Asia on the other side of Istanbul and there had to be overcome even eight rounds length of 12 km each.Right after the start, the peloton “let go” triple departure which included: Mikhail Ignatiev (Katusha), Benjamin Verraes (Accent Jobs) and Javier Megias Leal (Team Novo Nordisk). The peloton accelerated sharply and began to share the teams, lead their sprinters to fight for the win. At two kilometers to the finish in the peloton again was a small accident, which fortunately did not affect the finish. The last kilometer was working hard Agros Shimano team, which has developed a convenient position for Marcel Kittel, who for the third time during the race reached the stage win. He defeated Andrea Guardini (Astana) and Andrew Fenn (Omega Pharma – Quick Step). The 21 place finished Grzegorz Stepniak (CCC Polsat Polkowice).

It is unfortunate that during this race, “caught” me disease – said after the finish Grzegorz Stepniak. Every day feels better today but to fight with the best you would need to be fully available. I ran out. Fortunately, today missed accident and teammates “pulled up” me as close to the front of the pack. On the last kilometer I tried to stand behind Greipel but with such a huge pace was not quite that easy. Today Argos Shimano team played well and effectively moved finish Kitella the winner.
