Jan Tratnik claimed top 10 spot on stage 4 of Volta ao Alantejo, which was won by Owen Logan in a sprint.
Info: February 25th, stage 4, Alcácer do Sal – Odemira, 175,8km
Course: flat (3 intermediate sprints – 58,7km, 73,7km, 114,6km)
This time, comparing to previous two stages, the breakaway was formed relatively early, before first intermediate sprint. Robert Britton, Evan Huffman (both Rally Cycling), Adam Jamieson (Na Post Chain Reaction), Artem Nych (Gazprom-Rusvelo) gained over 5 minutes of advantage and for some time were being chased by Roy Goldstein (Israel Cycling Academy) and Mikel Iturria (Euskadi). The duo eventually had to give up and returned to the bunch.
The Movistar-led peloton seemed to have situation under control, although the gap was being reduced slowly. The escapees got reeled in late, in the final 5 kilometers of racing.
The battle was again played out among the sprinters and again Jan Tratnik was up there with the fastest. He took 7th place and moved up to 7th in the overall standings.
Owen Logan (Axeon Hagens Berman) could celebrate his victory, after beating GC leader, Carlos Barbero (Movistar) and Jasper De Laata (Metec – TKH Continental Cyclingteam p/b Mantel).
