The breakaway of the day with Marcin Mrożek was formed soon after the kilometer 0. CCC Sprandi Polkowice rider, who at the day of the race, turned 27, went away with Andreas Vangstad (Team Sparebanken), Julen Irizar (Euskadi), Adam de Vos (Rally Cycling) and Bas Tietema (Na Post Chain). Despite their great effort, they couldn’t gain more than 4 minutes of advantage, due to fast pace maintained by the bunch.

The 3-minute gap was being kept for a long stretch and was brought down drastically with around 120km into the race. With 25km to go the escapees were back in the pack and the race started all over.

The finale saw breaking the field into two groups. Highest ranked CCC Sprandi Polkowice rider in GC, Jan Tratnik stayed in the first one and was in the position to fight for the top spot in the uphill sprint. He finished 8th and took the same place in the general standings.

Juan Sebastian Molano (Manzana Postobon) was the fastest, beating Christopher Lawless (Axeon Hagens Berman) and Dylan Page (Caja Rural – Seguros RGA). Carlos Barbero (Movistar), who secured overall win, claimed 5th place on the last stage.
