Trentino: Jose Mendes’s tough luck

Jose Mendes may consider himself really unlucky, having fallen down during the last stage of Giro del Trentino. The Portuguese cyclist was classified the highest out of the CCC Polsat Polkowice racers. However, instead of reaching the finishing line Mendes found himself in an ambulance.

It turned out that the former cyclist of the LA-Rota dos Moveis team had broken his jaw and suffered a face injury. – I wanted to complete the race among the best ten cyclists. That was my goal for the last stage. I even wanted to get into a break-away, but there was a crash in front of me and I did not manage to avoid falling down.

Mendes has had stitches put on his face. Despite that the 26-year-old cyclists announced that he is not going to stop training.
