One week before the Polish Championships, the “orange squad” will take on two one-day events held in Poland – Grand Prix Doliny Baryczy – XXVII Memoriał Grundmanna i Wizowskiego (17.06) and Korona Kocich Gór (18.06). The latter is part of UCI calendar (1.2).
GP Doliny Baryczy is 177,5 kilometers long and will take place on three different laps – around Milicz, Ruda Sułowska and Żmigród. The profile is quite flat, but the organizers prepared a surprise, a 500-meter stretch of gravel roads, which has been laid down just for the purpose of the race. Sprint from a bigger group is the most likely scenario.
Korona Kocich Gór features more demanding terrain. 181-kilometer route consists of nine, 20,3km undulating laps around Trzebnica. Last year Łukasz Owsian finished 2nd in that race, although this year’s finale won’t be uphill, as in 2016.
CCC Sprandi Polkowice will approach both of the events with a similar lineups. Owsian, Maciej Paterski – winner of the last two Polish stage races, Alan Banaszek – winner of three prologues in 2017 and stage winner at CCC Tour – Grody Piastowskie, Kamil Małecki – stage winner of Carpathian Couriers Race, as well as Patryk Stosz, Frantisek Sisr and Michał Paluta have been selected . Piotr Brożyna, 3rd rider overall and best espoir of Tour of Slovakia will take part in GP Doliny Baryczy, while Mateusz Taciak will replace him in Korona Kocich Gór.
