Volta a Catalunya: Janiaczyk still high.

Jose Joaquin Rojas Gil from the team of Movistar Team became the winner of stage 6 of the race of Volta Ciclista a Catalunya. At the finishing line in Mollet-del-Valles he beat Manuel Cardoso (RadioShack) and Samuel Dumoulin (Cofidis). Another day of good riding by Błażej Janiaczyk, who this time finished the race in the 11th place.

The course of events of the 6th stage was very similar to the stages on the previous days. At first the peloton was riding peacefully, not allowing any breakaways. After riding 40 kilometres one of the attacks from the peloton formed a break-away of a little group of cyclists, among others with Jacek Morajko. In that group there were: Eduard Worganow (Katiusza), Kjell Carlström (Sky), Johnn Hoogerland (Vacansoleil), Adrian Palomares (Andalucía-Caja Granada) and Nicolas Edetem (Cofidis). The breakaway did not last long, and when the peloton absorbed the escapees, out of it Darwin Atapuma Hurtado (Colombia es Pasión) and Kanstantsin Sivtsov (HTC-Highroad) attacked. The Colombian and the Belarus cyclists cooperating harmoniously quickly gained advantage over the peloton, at one time reaching 4 and a half minutes.
The team of the leader controlling the course of the race did not allow the escapees to increase their advantage and together with the teams of Movistar and Cofidis they started the chase. The escaping twosome got caught up with 10 kilometres before the finishing line and the teams of sprint cyclists started to fight for the stage win.

There was a sprinter’s duel at the finishing line of the stage in Mollet-del-Valles, out of which the Spaniard Jose Joaquin Rojas rode victoriously, defeating the Portuguese cyclist Cardoso and the Frenchman Samuel Dumoulin.
The cyclist of CCC Polsat Polkowice Błażej Janiaczyk have finished in the high 11th place.

There have been no changes in the general classification. Alberto Contador, the leader of the race, has an advantage of 23 seconds over Levi Leipheimer (RadioShack) and Michele Scarponi (Lampre-ISD). The Polish cyclist classified in the highest position is Tomasz Marczyński (CCC Polsat Polkowice), in the 71st place, 11 minutes and 47 seconds adrift of the leader. Jose Mendes is 31st, 2 minutes and 10 seconds behind Contador
