Vuelta a Alentejo: Grzegorz Stępniak’s 7th place in stage 1.

The rider of the team of Louletano, Jorge Martín Montenegro, became the winner of stage 1 of Vuelta a Alentejo (2.2 UCI ). A very good performance of the CCC Polsat Polkowice team riders. Grzegorz Stępniak finished in the 7th position.

The start at Castelo de Vide began the four-stage cycling race of Vuelta a Alentejo (2.2 UCI ), in which the team of CCC Polsat Polkowice participates. The race was entered by 20 professional teams, including 11 cycling teams from Portugal and teams from Spain, Russia, Germany and Holland. The CCC team went to Portugal in the following composition: Marek Rutkiewicz, Bartłomiej Matysiak, Mateusz Taciak, Adrian Honkisz, Łukasz Owsian, Grzegorz Stępniak, Paweł Charucki and Nikolay Mihaylov.

During the first stage the riders rode a distance of 165.8 kilometres, leading from Castelo de Vide do Redondo. From the very beginning in the peloton there were a lot of attacks and attempts to break away, although nobody succeeded in riding away for a longer time. The route of the first stage was not too difficult but and the few hills did not lead to shattering the peloton. The finishing line in Redondo was reached by the whole peloton, and the finish was a field sprint.

The first one to cross the finishing line was the Argentinian rider from the team of Louletano, Jorge Martín Montenegro who beat Samuel Caldiera (Carmim Prio) and Jose Goncalves (Onida).

The riders of the CCC Polsat Polkowice team had a very good finish too. Grzegorz Stępniak crossed the finishing line in the 7th position, and in the 15th position was Bartek Matysiak.
