The German Andre Schulze from PSK Whirpool-Author became the winner of stage 2 of the 21st Race of Solidarity and Olympics from Radomsko to Bełchatów. In the final stretch in a sprinters duel he won against Tino Meier (NetApp) and Denis Flahaut (ISD Continental). In the fourth position there was Krzysztof Jeżowski from CCC Polsat Polkowice.
During the second, afternoon stage the cyclists had a 78 kilometres long route to cover. Compared with the morning stage from Łódź to Kleszczów, the competition in this stage was quite calm. The peloton livened up only when the racers approached the intermediate sprints, where they fought for points and seconds’ bonuses. At the first of them, located in Radomsko the winner was Rene Obst from Nutrixxion Sparkase. In Kamieńsk the winner was Eric Baumann, who became the leader of the points classification.
At 46 kilometres a racer of DHL Author, Wojciech Ziółkowski attacked, gaining quickly 1.5 minutes of advantage over the peloton and then entering lonely the rounds in Bełchatów.
Ziółkowski managed only to win points in the next special sprint and the rushing peloton absorbed him on the last lap. As during the morning stage sprint cyclists came to the fore. The team of CCC Polsat Polkowice worked very hard, leading out their sprint cyclist Krzysztof Jeżowski, who was prevented from reaching the stage win by the sprint cyclist from PSK, Andre Schulze, who became the winner of the stage. The second to cross the finishing line was Tino Meier (NetApp) and the third was Denis Flahaut (ISD Continental).
Krzysztof Jeżowski took the 4th place.
