On Tuesday 26 July the prologue at the location of the Warszawa Horse Races is going to start the 54th edition of Wyścig Dookoła Mazowsza. Another race belonging to the cycle of BGŻ ProLiga will be for several cyclists a rehersal before the upcoming Tour de Pologne at the beginning of August.
At the starting line of Wyścig Dookoła Mazowsza cyclists of the leading Polish groups are going to stand: CCC Polsat Polkowice, Bank BGŻ, Team BDC, Legia Felt and foreign teams from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Holland, Germany and Belarus. For the group of CCC Polsat Polkowice the race will be an ultimate test before Tour de Pologne.
In the announced composition of the ‘orange’ team there are four cyclists from the tentatively selected group for Tour de Pologne. Apart from the leader of BGŻ Proliga Łukasz Bodnar they are: Bartłomiej Matysiak, Mateusz Taciak and Błażej Janiaczyk. It is not unlikely that other cyclists’ good performance along the roads of Mazowsze will convince the selector Piotr Wadecki to include them into the national team for the race Around Poland.
The route of this year’s race Around Mazowsze has been divided into the prologue and four stages. After the Tuesday prologue we will get to know the leaders of particular classifications. On Wednesday the first, and at the same time the longest, stage around Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki is going to take place, where the cyclists will have 200 kilometres to ride. The next stages will lead around Kozienice, and from Zwoleń to Szydłowiec. The race ends on Saturday, with a stretch with the starting and finishing line in Szydłowiec.
The Wyścig Dookoła Mazowsza race will probably not change the situation in the general classification of BGŻ ProLiga. Łukasz Bodnar should be able to maintain the position of the leader; his most dangerous competitors, and team-mates at the same time, Tomasz Marczyński and Marek Rutkiewicz will not stand at the starting line. With a good performance Marcin Sapa from the BDC group will have a chance of joining the fight and compensating for the losses. He is in the fourth place, 64 points behind the leader. There will be 70 points altogether for winning the race and all the stages.
The report from the Dookoła Mazowsza race will be broadcast on Monday 1 August at 4.15 p.m. on TVP Sport.
