Wyścig Hubala: Franczak 6th in stage 2

Paweł Franczak sprinted to 6th in stage 2 of Wyścig Szlakiem Walk Majora Hubala, after tricky and slippery finale.

Info: Stage 2, June 2nd, Skarżysko Kamienna – Kazimierza Wielka, 127,7km

Course: undulating

Morning stage had similar elements as yesterday’s, as it kicked off with many breakaway attempts and later again, there was an incident with closed trail way crossing. Eventually 5 foreign riders went clear, establishing nearly 3-minute gap.

Peleton were very hesitant in making the decision on who takes responsibility of chasing. Escapees took advantage of that and with 10km to go they still had one minute lead. The pursuit become even harder, due to rain that turned roads into slippery traps. Escapees held on till the finish and Lukas Schlemmer (Team Felbermayr – Simplon Wels) was victorious in Kazimierza Wielka.

The main field split in the final 2km, because of two crashes. Riders in orange were not among those who went down, while Paweł Franczak was one of the fastest from the field, taking 6th place. Szymon Sajnok arrived right behind him, but despite his effort he lost youth classification jersey to Dusan Rajkovis (Adria Mobil). The youngster now sits in 2nd.
