Złoty Pierścień Krakowa: Owsian just missed out the podium

Łukasz Owsian claimed 4th place in the Złoty Pierścień Krakowa criterium, which opens up the Tour of Malopolska (cat. 2.2 UCI). 

The criterium held on the Main Square in Cracow, was unofficial prologue of the three-day event. Unofficial, since its results where not included in the general classification, although it selected first leaders of each classification.

Kamil Zieliński (Domin-Sport) is the first GC leader jersey wearer. He was the most aggressive rider in the race and collected the most amount of points – 46. Alex Buttazzoni (Team Friuli) took second, with 29 points, and Piotr Skarżyński (Whistle Eskom Ziemia Brzeska) was third, with 14 points. Łukasz Owsian completed the criterium with 7 points under his belt and finished 4th.

Piotr Brożyna was ranked in 8th and was the top finisher among U23 riders. Therefore, he is the first leader of youth classification.

Tomorrow, on June 12th, the first stage of the Tour of Malopolska, from Alwernia to Miechów, will be held. It will be 135 kilometers long and it will feature some small hills on the way. A sprint from bigger group is expected.
