Taiwanese Sergio Tu joins CCC Development Team

Sergio Tu, who represented Development Team Sunweb in 2018, is another addition to CCC Development Team. He has inked a 2-year deal.

I believe that this transition will be a good step for me and I will be able to close the gap to European racing scene. My dream has always been to be a good rider who can compete at the high level races. The ultimate goal is of course Tour de France. I will keep dreaming and building towards it and see what I can achieve – Sergio Tu explains – For next year I expect more racing and I hope to gain more experience. I will need some time to get to the right level, to be competitive in races, but I will give my best and continue to work hard.

My strength is a time trial. I’m also a punchy rider with a good maximum power, so I do well in races which end with a sprint from a smaller group. I’m from Taiwan, but next year I will be living in Denmark.

Sergio Tu is one of the most talented rider from Taiwan. As a 19-year old he claimed gold in Elite National Championships in time trial and a year later he finished 5th in Asian Championships U23 in the same cycling discipline.

Last year, while racing for Development Team Sunweb, he had the opportunity to gain valuable experience in European cycling, taking part in some prestigious one-day events, such as Brussels Classic, Rund um Koln, Antwerp Port Epic and Liège – Bastogne – Liège U23.

Sergio Tu showcases great potential and we are hoping that he will make the most out of it at CCC Development Team – Piotr Wadecki, sporting director of CCC Sprandi Polkowice says. – He’s been part of Giant family for few years now, at Sunweb, Team Giant – Castelli or Team Giant Scatto U23. He was able to take that opportunity and use the knowledge of the best experts in the field of training and equipment. Since Giant will provide all CCC-sponsored teams with bikes, signing Sergio to CCC Development Team is a organic continuation of that collaboration.
